Types of non-compliance

Introducers must be registered

An introducer is non-compliant if they introduce an industrial chemical without being properly registered with AICIS. Refer to Section 13 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019.

Introductions must be authorised

An introducer is non-compliant if they aren’t following the requirements of their introduction category. These requirements differ if the introduction is listed, exempted, reported, assessed, a commercial evaluation or for exceptional circumstances. Refer to Section 24 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019.

Introducing or exporting prohibited or restricted chemicals

An introducer is non-compliant if they introduce or export an industrial chemical when the General Rules prohibit it. This prohibition is the result of the chemical being subject to a prescribed international agreement or arrangement. Refer to Section 164 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019.
