Businesses often give us information that, if disclosed, may cause them commercial harm. Businesses can apply for protections under our laws.

This is a test we use to decide on applications for protection of CBI. As well as considering commercial interest and commercial prejudice, we look at the public interest.

Businesses can apply for an AICIS approved chemical name (AACN) to protect the chemical name as confidential business information. They can also apply to use a generalised end use instead of a specific end use.

This application relates to matters initiated under AICIS. Submit this application if you’ve received a notification that your CBI protection is due for review and you wish to renew it.

Chemicals assessed before 1 July 2020 that were granted a confidential listing on the Inventory and this confidential status has transitioned to the AICIS Inventory.
