Additional, or different, requirements relating to hazard information, reporting or record keeping apply to specified classes of introductions. These vary depending on whether you have categorised your introduction as exempted, reported or assessed. The reason for the additional or different requirements is due to an increased level of concern for these introductions because of greater potential for particular hazards or high levels of human or environmental exposure.
Section 7 of the General Rules lists which types of chemicals and chemical end uses are ‘specified classes of introductions’. They are:
- Highly branched organic chemicals
- Chemicals for end use as biocidal actives
- Chemicals that involve a designated kind of release into the environment
- Biochemicals
- Genetically modified products
- Certain chemicals at the nanoscale
- Polyhalogenated organic chemicals
