Do you need to submit a post-introduction declaration (PID) for 2023-24?

Who must submit a PID?

If you worked out that your introduction is in the 'exempted' category and you manufactured or imported the chemical for the first time between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024, then you must submit a PID if your introduction is one of these:

  • polymer of low concern
  • low-concern biological polymer
  • categorised as very low risk for human health and the environment.

If you introduced more than one for the first time, you must submit a separate PID for each introduction.

A PID is a one-off declaration and must be submitted by 30 November of the year of the first exempted introduction. If you submit a PID in 2023-24, you do not need to submit again if you continue to introduce it under the same exempted category the following year, provided that it continues to meet the requirements.

Who can submit a post-introduction declaration?

Either:

  • the registered importer or manufacturer who introduced the chemical
  • their agent or consultant.

How to submit a PID

  1. Access the PID tile in AICIS Business Services.
  1. Click the PID Dashboard in your PID Portfolio.
  1. Create a PID and specify which of the 3 types of introductions you are reporting (a separate PID is required for each):
    1. polymers of low concern – tell us the number of different polymers you are introducing
    2. low-concern biological polymers – tell us the number of different polymers you are introducing
    3. very low risk for human health and the environment - we require more information about these – check our exempted introduction declaration page beforehand.
  1. Submit the PID by 30 November 2024.
