Australia’s Rotterdam Convention authority notified of chemicals (CAS 608-93-5, 118-74-1)

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) was notified on 1 March 2023 about the removal of these chemicals from the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (the Inventory):

DCCEEW is Australia’s designated national authority for the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade. Under section 159(2) of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019, when AICIS bans or severely restricts the introduction or use of a chemical, the AICIS Executive Director must notify Australia’s designated national authority for the Rotterdam Convention. 

The AICIS evaluation statements of PeCB and HCB contain the available information set out in Annex I to the Rotterdam Convention.

On 10 January 2023 we published notices about the removal of PeCB and HCB from the Inventory.
