You must have a Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) Registry Number and name for your chemical before submitting your application.
A CAS number/name is not mandatory if we granted you protection of the chemical name as confidential business information (CBI) with an AICIS approved chemical name (AACN) during your assessment certificate application after 30 June 2020.
Chemical data providers (including foreign entities): You cannot initiate an application on behalf of a certificate holder. Only certificate holders can start the early listing application process. To provide chemical information for an application, sign up to AICIS Business Services.
Any holder of a current assessment certificate that is less than 5 years old can apply if their chemical is not on the Inventory.
Note: a CAS number/name is not mandatory if we granted you protection of the chemical name as CBI with an AACN during your assessment certificate application after 30 June 2020.
If you don’t have this information, learn how to find or get a CAS name and number for your chemical.
The molecular formula is optional.
You have the option of providing these details yourself (as the assessment certificate holder), or nominating another party to provide the information.
If another party is submitting information about your chemical’s identity (CAS name and number), they must sign up to AICIS Business Services as a chemical data provider before you apply for early listing. Your chemical data provider can be Australian or international.
You can apply for early listing any time after you receive your assessment certificate and before the 5-year non-listing period expires.
You cannot apply for an early listing if we have included a condition on your certificate that restricts introduction to fewer than 5 years.
Apply online through AICIS Business Services (login required). New users can sign up for free.
Click on ‘View your certificates and Inventory listed chemicals’. Select ‘View details’ for the chemical you wish to apply for and click ‘Apply for Early Listing’.

In the application form you must provide your chemical data provider’s details for their AICIS Business Services account:
We cannot give you this information. You must contact your chemical data provider and ask them for these details. If they don’t have this information, they can get it by signing up to AICIS Business Services.
Enter their details then verify your chemical data provider. We will then contact them by email and ask them to submit their information through AICIS Business Services.
We will process your application after we receive payment.
All joint certificate holders must agree to apply for early listing. If any of the joint certificate holders disagree with early listing, then you cannot submit your application and we will notify you.
We’ll contact you by email if we need more information and again when we have processed your application. You can track and view the outcome of your application online through AICIS Business Services.
If your application is successful, your chemical will be listed on the Inventory and its CAS name and number will be searchable on our website. If we granted protection of your chemical name as confidential business information (CBI), it will appear on the Inventory as an AICIS Approved Chemical Name (AACN).
We will check whether there are:
If there are, we will contact all relevant parties and ask them if they agree to the early listing. They must respond within 20 working days of our notification. Once they confirm their agreement we’ll let you know. If any of them object, then the application cannot proceed and we will notify you.
